Can we have more than 14 guests at our wedding? This limit is primarily due to our insurance guidelines, but also the intimate nature of our valley and size of the farmhouse. We wish we could share Butterfly Hollow with more of your family and friends, but having this comfortable number will also help keep your wedding celebration simple, personal and stress free. The limit of fourteen guests for your wedding, is in addition to the two of you. TOP>>
Do children count as guests?
Yes. An infant would be the only exception. TOP>>
Can we provide our own music for the wedding? Absolutely! You would be more than welcome to bring your favorite music CD's along with you. We have portable CD players as well as a wireless speaker system for the reception area. If you do not have any musical preferences we have a wide variety of instrumental music for the ceremony and an eclectic mix of jazz, blues and various other styles for the reception. You may also like to consider the Nashville Chamber Players for adding a live violin, harp, or cello to your wedding or reception. TOP>>
What will we do if it rains? We can still have a beautiful, cozy ceremony with flowers, candles and natural touches on the covered wrap around porch of the farmhouse or inside beside the fieldstone fireplace. TOP>>
Can we bring champagne for our reception? Sure. Due to local laws and regulations we cannot sell or provide alcohol. Since this is a private function, you are more than welcome to bring your own. We can provide champagne or wine glasses for your use. TOP>>
Can a family member video our wedding? Most definitely!! TOP>>
Can my friends and family take pictures of our ceremony? Sure. They are more than welcome to take pictures during the ceremony. After the "I Do" we will steal you both away for a little private photo session without the pressure or distraction of too many different cameras at once. If one of your guests happens to be a professional photographer and you would prefer for them to take your wedding and bridal portraits, that would be OK too. TOP>>
Will we have a unity candle in our ceremony? We would like the ceremony to be a reflection of you and your love story. If you would like to include any of the wedding traditions, like the Unity Candle or add something a little non-traditional - that would be wonderful. We do have a unity candle that you could use for the ceremony or if you would like to keep one, you would be more than welcome to bring one with you. Since most of our weddings are outside, you might also look into a few of the alternatives, like the sand ceremony. TOP>>
What time will our wedding be held? Your wedding can be between 1:00 and 5:00. It really depends on the season, the wedding package and your plans for the day. Your wedding time will be decided soon after your reservation has been made, so you will be able to give your guests plenty of notice. TOP>>
Are there other local accommodations for our guests? There is a Comfort Inn as well as another bed and breakfast within a 10 minute drive from Butterfly Hollow. There are also several other chain hotels to choose from within a 25 minute drive in Lebanon. Once your reservation has been confirmed, we will send you more information on these options with our confirmation packet. TOP>>
Is there a restaurant close by that we could take our wedding guests to? There is a wonderful restaurant called The Timberloft, which is about ten minutes away from the hollow. It has a warm, rustic lodge feel, a lounge and a menu filled with delicious entrees. There is also an old antebellum house that has been converted into a fine restaurant in Lebanon called Castle Heights Chophouse. There is often live jazz music to accompany their eclectic menu. It is truly a treat. The confirmation packet that we will mail out will contain the contact numbers for both of these restaurants as well as others. TOP>>
Can you provide additional bouquets and boutonniere? Yes. Please let us know at least two weeks in advance. There would be an additional fee of $75 for the hand picked bouquet and $15 for the boutonniere. TOP>>
Is there a package that does not include lodging? The wedding packaged called Elope to the Hollow does not include lodging, but is also limited to two guests and certain dates. The packages called Wedding With Friends and the Grand Affair have options to rent the facility for the day and do not include lodging. TOP>>
Where do the hosts live? David and Sharon designed the renovation of the farmhouse so that when they are sharing the property as a retreat or bed and breakfast, they are completely self sufficient in the lower back section of the home, which has a separate private entrance. The entire front of the farmhouse as well as upstairs, common areas, wrap around porches, 85 acres and walking trails are for you to completely enjoy. TOP>>
Can we say our own vows? Most certainly. If you would like to include any special prayer, traditions or non-traditions into your ceremony, that would be wonderful. We want your wedding to be a reflection of the two of you. We do have a list of many sample vows and ceremony ideas, if you would like a little inspiration. TOP>>
Can our minister perform the ceremony? Yes. You are welcome to have anyone you like perform the service. In order for the ceremony to officially unite you as husband and wife and make it legal through the state of Tennessee, the ceremony must of have two witnesses and one of them must either be an elected official like a county clerk or ordained through a religious organization. All weddings, where the minister or officiant is provided by Butterfly Hollow, are legally binding and will be filed in the county where you received your marriage license within three days of your wedding.
